The world’s leading travel trade show, ITB Berlin 2025, has officially opened its doors, setting new benchmarks with an unprecedented 5,800 exhibitors from over 170 countries. Taking place at Messe Berlin from March 4-6, the event welcomes global tourism professionals, industry leaders, and media representatives for a three-day showcase of innovations, business networking, and discussions on the future of travel.
This year’s theme, “The World of Travel Lives Here,” reinforces ITB Berlin’s role as a hub for shaping global tourism trends. With a focus on digitalization, sustainability, and market recovery, the event provides a platform for the travel industry to navigate evolving challenges and opportunities.
For the first time, Albania has been chosen as the official Host Country of ITB Berlin, marking its rapid emergence as one of the fastest-growing travel destinations in Europe.
During the grand opening ceremony, Prime Minister Edi Rama took center stage, emphasizing Albania’s tourism expansion and growing appeal among German-speaking travelers. In 2023, 374,000 German tourists visited Albania—a staggering rise from previous years, reflecting the country’s increasing popularity as a Mediterranean hotspot.

Deborah Rothe, Director of ITB Berlin, outlined some of the groundbreaking innovations and new product launches at this year’s event, including advancements in AI-driven travel solutions, sustainable tourism models, and the integration of smart technology in hospitality.
Meanwhile, Dr. Mario Tobias, CEO of Messe Berlin, highlighted the significance of ITB Berlin in driving global tourism business opportunities. Despite economic challenges, global travel demand remains strong, according to Mitra Sorrells, SVP Content at Phocuswright. Norbert Fiebig, President of the German Travel Association (DRV), echoed these sentiments, noting that Germans continue to prioritize travel despite economic uncertainties.
